Cover shows subacrosomal layer of the sperm head capsule, the perinuclear theca (PT; red; a rabbit antibody against PT-protein IAM32 provided by Dr R Oko) disintegrates in the ooplasm after in vitro fertilization in pigs. A study by Katayma et al. (Reproduction 130 907) documents the beneficial effect of piezoelectric pulses on the disassembly of sperm PT and pronuclear formation after porcine intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
