The motility in vitro of the rabbit uterovarian ligament

C. M. Fredericks, M. E. A. Azzam and E. S. E. Hafez

Considerable attention has been directed towards the study of oviductal and uterine motility and its importance in gamete transport and other reproductive processes. Regional and cyclic patterns of activity have been defined in detail with particular reference to changes with the reproductive cycle (Csapo & Pinto-Dantas, 1966; Hafez & Blandau, 1969; Aref, Hafez & Kamar, 1973). The ovarian musculature has also been investigated: spontaneous contractions have been demonstrated in several species and an involvement in the process of follicular rupture has been postulated (Rocereto, Jacobowitz & Wallach, 1969; Okamura, Virutamasen, Wright & Wallach, 1972; Diaz-Infante, Virutamasen, Connaughton, Wright & Wallach, 1974; Walles et al., 1975).
