Summary.: Intraluminal injection of pyrathiazine, promethazine and benadryl into the uterus of pseudopregnant rats at dose levels reported to suppress the decidual reaction (1 mg/horn) caused extensive necrosis of the endometrium. Suppression of the decidual reaction by these agents when applied locally cannot, therefore, be attributed unequivocally to their antihistaminic properties and, hence, does not provide evidence for a rôle of histamine in the mediation of decidual induction.
