All who work in the fields of endocrinology and reproduction, and many others, will have heard with great regret of the death in New York on 8th November 1966 of Professor Bernhard Zondek. The Council of Management and the Editors of the Journal of Reproduction and Fertility are glad to recall that the August 1966 number of the Journal was inscribed in his honour and contained much material appropriate to that occasion.
This tribute aroused much interest and was a source of great pleasure to Professor Zondek. The interview with him which was included in the issue together with the curriculum vitae, the selected bibliography and the reviews of the present position in fields opened up by him, gave a revealing picture of his life, work and influence, as well as of a delightful and mellow personality. This inscribed issue must now, unhappily, serve also as an obituary notice and
